Screenwriter John Logan Talks Bond 24

So far only three things are known from the upcoming 24th installment in the James Bond franchise, which are that actor Daniel Craig will be reprising his role as 007, that director Sam Mendes will also be returning to his director duties and that screenwriter John Logan will once again have the task of making a gripping story.

In a recent interview to IGN, the writer about what the creative team behind the project is expecting to achieve with the film and where is the inspiration coming from.

"My goal is to write a great movie that's appropriate, to build on what we did on Skyfall, but make it its own unique animal. The themes, ideas and the characters from Skyfall can obviously continue on, because it is a franchise, and it is an ongoing story. So I think there's resonance from Skyfall in the new movie."

Logan mentioned his lifelong love for the franchise, and that the new film will have elements from all the other Bond films.

"I grew up on the Bond movies, The first one I saw was Diamonds Are Forever, when I was a kid. I just loved them to pieces. I love all the elements, from the books — mostly from the novels; going back to Ian Flemming is where I started with Skyfall — and there's certainly elements of the movies and the novels that we've brought into the new movie, as they did into Skyfall."

We recently reported that MGM’s lawsuit with the Kevin McClory estate was over, which gives the writer the possibility of introducing the iconic villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld and his underground criminal syndicate SPECTRE. When asked if Blofeld and SPECTRE could appear in the new film, Logan replied.

"You know, I think our villain's appropriate to the story we're telling."

Bond 24 will hit theaters on October 23, 2015 in the UK and on November 6, 2015 in the US.
